Bridging the Gap Between Student Health and Academic Achievement through Nutrition, Physical Activity, and the Management of Chronic Conditions in Schools

Objectives:

– Define the infrastructure for the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child effort in Nebraska.
– Describe the process for implementing successful collaborations between NDE programs and school districts in assisting schools to meet professional development and school improvement efforts.
– Identify the key components to implementing best practices in nutrition, physical activity and managing chronic diseases that lead to improved attendance, family and community engagement and increased school connectedness.

Rule 10 Revision-Up Close and Personal

If you ever wanted an opportunity to effect the operation of a school, please attend this session to learn how. Rule 10, Regulations and Procedures for the Accreditation of Schools, August 1, 2015, was opened for revisions in November 2018. This session will present the most current recommendations and suggestions for Rule 10 revisions based on State Board of Education, NDE staff, State Accreditation Committee, and public and nonpublic school system stakeholders’ input. The session will conclude with a review of next steps and a description of the revision submission process.

Rule 10 Requirements for Certificated Staff Evaluation

One of the requirements of Rule 10 is to have an updated Certificated Staff Evaluation Policy. This session will review statutory regulations and walk through the process for submitting policies for review. The last component of the section will allow school districts to request and receive confirmation of their last policy review by the NDE. School districts who are currently working on or will be pursuing new board policies are encouraged to attend.
